Land and property boundaries

As the official source of spatial and land information for NSW, Spatial Services is responsible for maintaining cadastral and administrative boundaries of NSW. This includes maintenance of the digital cadastral database to align with new plan registrations, positional upgrade and improvement of cadastral data, digitisation of hard copy survey plans, maintenance of administrative boundaries (such as electoral and local government boundaries) and cadastral transformation projects and initiatives. These innovations support the people and business of NSW through expediting and simplifying the processes of property development.

Spatial Services is working with other organisations on a variety of collaboration projects:

  • Cross jurisdictional: Collaboration with Victoria and Queensland governments on cadastral accuracy and transformation of key cadastral datasets including creation of a numerical cadastre. We are working to extend this collaboration to other state and territory jurisdictions.
  • Interagency: Working with other government agencies on projects such as NSW Department of Planning, Industry and Environment and NSW Transport Roads and Maritime Services to utilise LandXML data and share key datasets for integration and adoption into the digital cadastral database.
  • Local government: Working with councils to improve cadastral accuracy. Councils supply their improved cadastral data to us for conflation and integration into the digital cadastral database. Spatial Services is also providing solutions for a proposed layer (planned changes) for councils.
  • Western Sydney City Deal: Working towards cadastral improvement in Western Sydney to provide a foundation for the Smart Western City Program.
